Students arrive and are greeted. Students hang up their belongings in their classroom space and enjoy some free play with friends. Teachers and students then gather together in a welcome circle featuring our good morning song and discussion of the day’s plans and activities.
At this time, teachers introduce the week’s nature theme, incorporating hands-on learning in science, art, math, literacy and more.
Students gather together and take a pause from the day’s activities and refuel with a healthy snack or lunch. Teachers share relevant stories and engage students in mid-class reflection.
Students engage in unstructured play, fostering development and group relationships. Teachers guide open-ended exploration with emergent curriculum. This time is often used to visit our farm animal friends.
Students and teachers gather together in a closing circle to discuss the day’s highlights through gratitude sharing. Students conclude with a farewell song, leaving excited for the next adventure.
